New sensory den enhancing babies’ development
Poppies, Marlow is proud to show off their beautiful new sensory area in the baby room providing a calm area for babies to relax and explore safely.
Nursery Manager Leanne Le-Marinel joined Marlow in October 2021 and quickly set to work investing in the nursery to improve resources and opportunities for the children. It was decided that a separate sensory area or ‘den’ would enhance the development of the babies in their care.
The sensory area is equipped with sensory panels, which give off different brightly coloured lights when pressed, allowing the babies to explore movement and motion. The children are enjoying their new area, pushing the tiles and seeing the brightly coloured liquid move around under their movements.
Also introducing soft play equipment of various shapes and sizes, including ramps, a ball pit and stairs encourages babies to climb and explore in a safe environment. Soft play has a huge benefit for children under 2 years of age, helping to develop and build their gross motor skills and build the foundation for strong, confident walkers.
The sensory area has helped to enhance the nursery curriculum and build a beautiful space delving deeper into awe and wonder right from a very early age.
